When it’s time to deck the halls, vintage holiday decor is my go to. I love the unique, cozy feel that these preloved treasures add to our home.
Our Dining Room
Holidays in our home tend to be all about the food. What makes our traditional holiday meals even better is that they are eaten together around a beautiful table that is set with love. Every detail from the vintage blue and white transferware plates to the mismatched milk glass goblets makes the meal feel that much more special. This vintage sled centerpiece adds a finishing touch to the table that can be used all winter long. It is topped with hand turned trees straight from our workshop.
Our antique dining table, collected chairs, and chippy fireplace mantel make a cozy backdrop for every holiday gathering. This year I topped the mantel with some fresh clippings from the Norfolk Pine in our backyard. I hung an asymmetrical arrangement of upcycled stockings made from a vintage chenille blanket. A collection of tarnished silver platters adorns the wall to add a little sparkle and shine.
Our Family Room
Our antique piano has always served as what I like to call our “Florida fireplace mantel.” I love decorating it for the seasons! I decided to go for a real simple look this year. This framed, linen winter barn scene and sign are two of my favorite pieces of Christmas decor. They take centerstage here on the piano. A simple bureau mirror and glass bottles filled with fresh greenery top off the piano. Instead of the traditional piano bench, I added this rustic wooden chair for a little extra character.
The natural wood spindle tree in the foreground was handcrafted from a well loved spindle crib I found on the curb. I enjoy taking this unique piece out each year. I love remembering the day I found it, the time we spent repurposing it, and giving it a new life in our home each Christmas.
Our Living Room
These 1930’s alphabet book pages are slightly untraditional as holiday decor, but their gorgeous texture, muted colors, and subject matter just seem to fit right in. The train engine, orange, partridge, toy, and x-mas tree illustrations are all holiday favorites.
Repurposed porch spindles topped with bottle brush trees add a festive touch to the end table next to our midcentury lamp. More chippy furniture graces our entryway year round with some dried orange garland and pine branches to mark the season.
Our colorful collection of antique books is nestled behind the glass doors of this vintage cabinet. It is topped with a pair of antique brass candlesticks. The statement piece on this wall is the fresh pine wreath we fashioned on an old wagon wheel rim.
Christmas is especially magical for children. To incorporate some of the things they love into our seasonal decor, I added this grouping of vintage blocks to our coffee table. They add a little merry and bright to the space and can be played with all season long.
Our Kitchen
One of my favorite Christmas traditions is baking. I love making our favorite recipes year after year. This collection of vintage tins and cake molds make the kitchen an extra special place to bake all those Christmas goodies! I like to store our baking supplies and fresh produce in vintage mason jars and milk glass bowls to add some extra charm to the kitchen year round.
I hope our holiday home tour inspired you to creatively add some vintage touches to your home this season. There is no place like home for the holidays!
